Because Often Knowledge Is More Likely to Equal Bliss Than Ignorance Is

[livejournal.com profile] noog is my official Adored Person of this evening. I'd go found a Church of Noog, but since she already has an [livejournal.com profile] adriennefanclub I guess that might be redundant. Everyone should go worship her though. And I should go finish that one-paragraph long beginning of a snail-mail letter I started writing to her.

Anyway. I'm in a mood to dispense random bits of pleasant helpful information right now. The first random bit of pleasant helpful information is that [livejournal.com profile] noog is fabulous. The second random bit of pleasant helpful information is that the following really cool things can now be read directly from your LJ friends page:
News: [livejournal.com profile] alternatenews, [livejournal.com profile] bbcnewsworld, [livejournal.com profile] cnntopstories, [livejournal.com profile] commondreams, [livejournal.com profile] saloncom, [livejournal.com profile] slashdot, [livejournal.com profile] theonionfeed, [livejournal.com profile] theregister, [livejournal.com profile] wired_news, [livejournal.com profile] yellowtimes

Comics: [livejournal.com profile] boondocks, [livejournal.com profile] calvinandhobbes, [livejournal.com profile] dieselsweeties, [livejournal.com profile] dilbertdaily, [livejournal.com profile] doonesbury, [livejournal.com profile] foxtrotfans, [livejournal.com profile] garfieldfans, [livejournal.com profile] jaketherake, [livejournal.com profile] modrnwrld_comic, [livejournal.com profile] sinfestfeed
Plus, you can find an even longer list of such things on the Syn_Promo Community Userinfo Page. (Not all of the comics I listed above are RSS feeds, but it's the same general idea - you get to read stuff from other websites without ever having to leave your own LJ friends page.)

The third random bit of pleasant helpful information will only be helpful or of interest to any of the currently 61 people who have me on their LJ friends lists whom I do not have on my LJ friends list. I'm sure that some of you care more about reciprocation than others, but just for the record, for those of you who really really want onto my friends list, there is a note at the end of my userinfo page which provides a way for you to get on it. On the other hand, if you don't want to that badly, that's fine too. At some point I shall have to alter my admissions rules to better keep the numbers down, but for now I'm still just flailing around wildly unable to think of any better way to handle things.

This has been quite a pleasant evening; everyone is doing wonderfully nice things for me, except of course for random very rude total strangers whose opinions are irrelevant anyway and cannot possibly damage my pleasant evening. Thank you, everyone, and good night.

I had Boondocks and Deisel Sweeties, but didn't know about all these others! Mmm, Foxtrot and Calvin & Hobbes goodness.

Now if they just had Non Sequitur .. then I could stop bothering with comics in the newspaper altogether.

I'm fabulous? I'm fabulous! Thank you! I'm going to walk around with an inflated head now. :)

And yes, you should finish your letter to me. Although I was going to write one to you this weekend. I'll race you. Whoever receives a letter from the other person first wins. :)

Argh.

I was just mildly annoyed with those people until I saw:

(I'm tired of the "queer by choice" activists bitching at me, so I've deleted all the crap they've written. kthx. And if you're looking at this and thinking about it, go ahead. I'll delete it too. :))

I'm just.. speechless.

Indeed. >_<

Sorry for the spam commenting, but this is so incredibly annoying. I was kind of wanting to go in there and start a polite dialogue until I saw comments being deleted.

Excellent, a way to collapse together some of my frequently visited newsfeed sites. Thanks for calling that to my attention!

Stalin was totally a lesbian. Didn't you know?

[identity profile] zebra.livejournal.com 2002-12-05 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
omg!

This is so awesome -- thank you for spreading the word!

And, as one of the 61 people, I'm sorry I don't leave comments enough or do whatever it takes to have made it into your good gtaces enough to have made it all the way to reciprocation land ;) It drives me crazy to have friends not be reciprocated, but you're one of the few people that's consistently interesting enough for me to bother fussing with and leaving like this. Be flattered -- this doesn't happen much. ;)

I don't post in my own journal very often, but I do at the very least *read* everything everyone says. I never know what to say in my journal -- I'm getting ready to write (yet another) post about the journaling process and never having the right words -- but I just thought you might want to know that I was at the very least active, even if I didn't look it. ;)

I'd join your mailing list, but . . . okay. I'm definitely in the "other people can choose to be queer" camp, but I'm not so sure I'd be at home on the list because I don't think I ever made a (or at the very least a conscious) choice about my sexuality. I've been queer as long as I can remember in some form or another, so, if I decided, I decided awfully young.

Anyhow, that's why I'm a straggler. Is that okay? ;) I'd love to stay on your list (I find you totally groovy ;)), but I can remove you if you think you've got too many people... just say the word. (And, just for the record, I feel like I'm passing the LiveJournal equivalent of a third-grade note that reads: "Will you be my friend? Circle one -- yes no maybe." My internal dialogue right now is consisting mostly of, "This is really sad, Ben, Jesus.")

(Well, that and, "I really need to pee." :P)

Anyway, that's that! Circle one and pass it back! *runs off* ;)

That's perfectly absolutely okay. ;) I really don't have the time to read the journals of everyone who reads mine, but I do like everyone who reads mine at the moment, and I don't at all object to letting anyone read it who wants to. I just would feel dishonest if I added everyone back and then didn't actually read them - my friends list is for people whose journals I read absolutely every entry in, every single day; I try to visit my other "friend of" people from time to time too but I can't keep up with them all as regularly. So I use the mailing list membership as a simple way for me to prioritize who's probably most interested in getting on my friends list, so that I won't turn away anyone whose feelings are likely to be terribly horribly hurt. And I also add occasional other people if their world views utterly fascinate and delight me or something, but that's not terribly common or a realistic way of getting on my friends list these days.

thank you!! i added two of them--i never knew there was such a thing!

Are you trying to compel us to pay?

[identity profile] luinied.livejournal.com 2002-12-05 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
She obviously has such a high opinion of you because of your Quina userpic, and because your name field makes those of us who've seen "potted meat" laugh even though we know we shouldn't.
