Abortion Activism

This is an extremely important personal story by [livejournal.com profile] drawkward about why to support abortion, and how WOMEN DON'T DECIDE TO GO GET PAINFUL SURGERY JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT, YOU IDIOTS.

This is an extremely important article reposted by [livejournal.com profile] moominmuppet about the effects of Bush's anti-abortion creepiness on African nations.

This is a distressing article reposted by [livejournal.com profile] moominmuppet about the frequent inability of doctors to obtain the "morning-after pill" for their patients until the 120-hour limit on its effectiveness has already passed.

This is one thing you can do to help one abortion provider in the United States whose life is being threatened right now.

Thanks for posting this. The one about the morning-after pill was particularly disturbing- a friend of mine needed a morning-after pill while she was in Prague with me, and while it was hard to find a clinic that spoke English, she was able to just walk in and get the pill. Europe is clearly much better off.

I want to spit in the faces of anyone who says that women should have to prove that they were raped in order to get an abortion. Not only is rape notoriously hard to prove, and not only do many women want to avoid prosecuting their assailants, but also it unnecessarily delays the abortion procedure. Everyone agrees that abortions are more stressful, dangerous, and more painful the longer you wait on them, and if you care about not killing things that already have a nervous system of their own, you'll let women get their abortions as early in their pregnancies as possible. Not that I'm opposed to late-term abortions if a woman wants one- I just think that early ones are preferable.

I should look up the voting records for the recent 'partial-birth' abortion ban- I want to see if any of my congresspeople voted for the ban, so I can summarily vote them out of office the next time they're up for re-election. Do you know where I can find voting records?

Quite so.
