Um, I don't think I could possibly say it any better than Black_Pearl said it, so I'll let her handle this one.

I'm sorry that I don't have the energy to grieve anymore right now. I'll try to do it later.

I'd also like to refer everyone to Barraged's journal entry from two days ago, about how the CIA predicted a 100% likelihood that another major terrorist attack against American civilians would occur in the near future if the American government started bombing Afghanistan.

The American government has now bombed Afghanistan anyway. American civilians, prepare to to be retaliated against.

Oh, and . . . to anybody in need of a quiet woodland retreat in which to get away from it all and attempt to regain your own sanity while the rest of the world continues getting less sane with every day that passes, I highly recommend that you visit Princess Mononoke. Americans are very much in the habit of thinking, "War? Don't be silly, war is something that only happens in faraway places, across the ocean. It doesn't happen here. We're BIGGER than everybody else, so they won't dare to pick on us."

What they don't seem to understand is that although we may be bigger, the other guys are braver, less afraid of death, and basically, they have less to lose. If they do nothing, we'll go on killing them; if they fight back, we'll kill them with more enthusiasm than ever, but really, they're dying anyway so how much difference can a few more deaths make? Whereas we, well, we're not used to death. It still shocks us when it happens to us. We're still stuck in the mode of thinking it's just pictures on the screen in a Schwarzenegger movie.

Americans are the most naive people on the planet. They're like five year olds who think they're playing with toy cap guns and that the only thing at stake here is the hurt pride of their five year old egos.
