Cat and Blender
I bought a blender today. It's my first "real" blender, in the sense of looking the way blenders are traditionally supposed to look and having a reasonable number of settings. My previous blender was a thing you could stick into any glass or bowl and press a button on, but it only had two speeds and neither speed worked very well, and then recently the muffler broke and it became deafening. So I replaced it. Now I can blend things! This evening I blended pineapple and strawberries and orange juice. But I want new and interesting ideas for things to blend. Someone suggest creative blending recipes, please! Preferably not quite as creative as the blended iPod, though.
In other news, Stardust has condescended to associate with me again! She was deeply traumatized by the recent visit to the vet and took to hiding under my bed most of the time for several days, which was strange because she had never, ever, ever spent time under my bed before. But now she has re-emerged and resumed ordering me around haughtily. She says that my gift to her of a cardboard box with a picture of a blender on it has been deemed acceptable.

My primary use for a blender is as a way to make fresh fruit more interesting. Berries (or other soft fruit like peaches) + a mango or banana for texture + milk, coconut milk (for folk like me who cannot eat dairy) or milk + vanilla ice cream and some ice and sugar (my typical proportions are 1-1.5 cup berries, 1 banana, 2/3s of an ice cube tray, 2/3-3/4 cup of coconut milk, and 1-2 TBS sugar works very well indeed. This is especially recommended when hot.
Also, milkshakes - milk + ice cream + various flavored syrups (the same ones as are used for coffee are ideal) are wonderful.

I loooooove smoothies! My favorite blend is as follows (I don't actually measure anything so these are my approximations):
1 cup ice
3/4 cup frozen blueberries
3/4 cup rice milk or 2% milk
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
1 banana
3/4 cup fresh strawberries
3/4 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
1 scoop chocolate whey protein OR 1-2 egg whites
2 tbsp peanut butter
Blend ice with ice crush setting & pour into cup, put cup in freezer for now. Blend blueberries on ice crush until the blades whirl freely, then add each ingredient in order, blending between each. After all ingredients are in, add crushed ice and blend once more, and you're done! This shake is enough energy for a meal, for me, and it makes me feel soooo clean inside! I love smoothies -- would probably have them every day if I had a dishwasher and didn't have to wash the darn thing by hand.

Thanks for the recipe!

I suspect Stardust will not like the blender so much though.
