In Case Anyone Ever Somehow Managed to Doubt that Puritanism Still Reigns in the U.S. Government

This is so completely ridiculous, pathetic and depressing that I just don't know what to say. I hadn't realized that even John Ashcroft could be dumb enough to get upset over a couple of mostly-but-not-quite-entirely clothed statues.

weird, i was listening about that on the radio and they brought up when one of the guys went to see the statue of David in Italy, saying there were a bunch of kids looking as they were passing by and didn't hear any giggles, laughter, point out or anything like that. that shows progress in the strict way of the "is it porn or is it art" debate. if a child can look at a nude status as a piece of art, what is the problem of art being seen AS art through adults eyes?

Yeah, but those were probably Italian kids in Italy. Italian culture has never been as priggish as British culture, and the British exported their very most priggish elements of all to America when they came here.

The average six-year-old in Italy is far more able to handle mature sexual content than John Ashcroft is, in other words.

lol - don't let John Ashcroft hear you accuse him of having anything literally up his ass. He'd buy another set of $8,000 curtains, specially soundproofed to prevent freedom of speech, and lock you behind them for the rest of your life for accusing him of anything so shocking!
