This is usually what principals say when some Muslim girl isn't allowed to wear her headscarf or a Wiccan kid can't wear her pentacle or a kid can't read an atheist or Vodoun book in study hall. Even if that's not what he meant, the statement is odious. He means that if a kid doesn't try to act as much like a "good" little white Christian hetero as s/he possibly can, s/he should be punished.

This is so offensive on so many levels. My Bi group has kids in that school! If I were a parent in that area, I'd be looking at boarding schools or home schooling right now, and I'd certainly be a presence at the PTA. No kidding.

What a sexist bastard. At least the students were cool about it; that's what really matters, anyway. As long as each generation grows more accepting...

It just occured to me that if the principal is that unabashedly sexist, OF COURSE he'll make life as miserable for genderqueer students as he can! But you're right--at least the kids might do better.

If you hear of anything more on that story, please update us. I wonder if that kid bothered to do anything about it...I mean I would have gone over that sexist asshole's head in about 2 seconds.
