I just found this link via Katyha and am appropriately completely intimidated.

I've tended to find what little I've read of his fiction just plain disturbing and not to my taste (er, I'm squeamish in certain ways at times), but in terms of nonfiction, I can't name a clearer thinker or a more courageous speaker anywhere. I own several of his books but I think Public Sex: The Culture of Radical Sex is my favorite.

Cool! I have had Pat Califia on my interest list since I started my journal. I had no idea he was here. I haven't read any of his fiction though.

Hmmmm....I'm crazy about Pat, but I have to wonder if that's just a hoax. I mean, I could create a log-in as SusieBright, put Susie's picture and bio up there, and create Susie's lists of interests, but that wouldn't make me Susie, sadly.

I wondered that too, but after a very careful reading I've decided I think it's real. The only thing that gave me any pause was the name "Califia" since last I'd heard he was going by "Califia-Rice." But the mention of "ex-lover" in the bio would explain the removal of "Rice" and the whole thing just seems too realistic for me to feel like someone would have faked it so convincingly.

I'm not that interested, and I have too much respect for the right of privacy to want to obtain IP addresses of every random person who wants to leave dumb comments.

Also, this person's diction in subsequent comments has now clearly revealed that it's not my insane little brother, so the only at all interesting part of the mystery has now been cleared up.

I believe this person spread to my journal from frankepi's. Someone should probably develop a vaccine to prevent the spread of LiveJournal-transmitted anonymous jerks.

That's why I hesitated about adding him to my friends list... but a few of my friends added him too, so at least I'm now a bit more hidden.
