Webs Spun by Spiders on Drugs!

Why Caffeine is a Vastly Scarier Drug than LSD, Mescaline or Pot

. . . with thanks to lalenalefay.

I wish they'd do one for alcohol. But I think the spider would just pass out and not spin any web at all. Poor spider.

From there I also found my way to The Good Drug Guide, which seems like a useful idea - the point being to write a guide which acknowledges both positive and negative effects instead of just one or the other, and to put all of the effects in plain English. Whether they did a good job of it or not, I'm really not in the least qualified to judge. But it's nice to think somebody at least tried to write one.

eeegads! perhaps if I gave spiders drugs, they would appear comical/less scary? a cure for my phobia! yes indeed.

The Good Drug Guide link should be http://www.biopsychiatry.com/, yours links to the web thingy again. The Good Drug Guide is a good idea, but I think the way they've presented it is going to put off their stated target audience of "responsible parent's"

No, I seem to be making a habit of this. I'm glad you're bothering to correct me, because normally I don't notice until I go back six months later and then I'm appalled that nobody pointed out my mistakes to me.

I have often dreamed
of a world where pedantry
would be rewarded

I owe you my thanks
for playing your part, though small
in helping me there

Yeah, okay, that was bad. :)

Spiders? Spiders??? Ahhhhh!!!!

My darling Gayle, what should be remembered is that spiders don't necessarily have the same physiologies as humans (in fact, I believe they're wildly different) and would not be an appropriate indicator of such effects on humans.

All told, I'd wager the page was just a dramatic way for someone to attempt to make their point.

Much apologies,
Mary
