Please, Not Ronald Reagan All Over Again

An Arnold Schwartzenegger for Governor campaign would be by far the most horrible thing to happen to California in my lifetime.

And that measure he sponsored that passed? That was stupid too. I voted against it. Because I'm smart like that.

At least he can't go on to become president. Because if he could, I'm sure the people of the United States would be idiotic enough to elect him.

Arnold is definitely worse than Gray Davis. The whole problem with Gray Davis is that Gray Davis is too much of a Republican. Arnold is quite similar; he's a Republican who leans Gray Davis-ish so-called "centrist" on social issues. They're indistinguishable, except for the fact that Arnold makes icky movies which will therefore get him much more loved, which therefore makes him much more scary. Oh, and also Arnold is a lot uglier, but that's beside the point.

As for energy deregulation - it's just the state-level version of the U.S. national debt. It means we're technically in debt beyond belief, but in practical terms nobody seems to be able to figure out what the hell that's going to mean yet. When somebody starts trying to actually extract the money from the taxpayers, THAT's what the bad event will be.

That is a fairly nightmarish thought (if also rather surreal). What measure did he sponsor?

The worst thing about him possibly being elected would be the inevitable re-election campaign and the consequent tidal wave of dumbass "Ah'll bee baahhck!" references.

He cannot ever become president of the United States. You have to be born here; he was born in Austria. Best he could ever hope for is Secretary of State, or Speaker of the House.

Unless the Bush Junta changed that too.
