Of Vanishing Mailboxes and Vanishing Weekends

Uh, the mailbox out front for depositing outgoing mail has mysteriously vanished without a trace. If this is another new innovation of the crazy lady who's taken over the management of my aparment complex, I shall seriously have to strangle her. There is no way in hell that I should have to go driving in search of one of those big blue public mailboxes every single time I need to mail a check for my electric bill.

In other news, I have been assigned $25 worth of overtime this weekend. This is quite stupid because $25 is such a miniscule amount as to be meaningless to me, whereas the weekend time is profoundly meaningful to me. There's something wrong with the system when I am not allowed to turn such bad deals down. I demand a bidding process! The employers should just have to offer more and more and more money for overtime until one of the employees voluntarily deems the amount of money acceptable and agrees to do the work. No more of this just telling us we have to do it.

If the mail was getting stolen, it might be worth it.

There was a lock on the mailbox, and such a teeny tiny narrow slot to drop envelopes in that I experienced much frustration on several occasions because my mere enevelopes were too thick to fit through the slot. In theory I suppose that an extremely determined thief who came out in the middle of the night when no one was around and spent three hours fiddling around with bent wires stuck through the hole might be able to pull a few envelopes out. But all of mine were getting delivered, because the electric company has never told me that I owed any money from unpaid bills.

Really determined thieves have postal worker keys. :/ Not sure if this has happened in your area, though. It's rampant in Seattle.

But surely the really determined thieves could steal my mail from those big blue mailbox things on streetcorners too . . . ?

Hell, the really determined thieves probably break into the post office at night and steal mail from there.

All I know is, all of my sent mail had been confirmed as having arrived just fine.

Aren't there people ABOVE the manager that you could complain to? Seems like it is getting rather ridiculous.
