Ouch Ouch Ouch

There is a very good reason why I only use my non-microwave oven once every six months.

I tried to use it today, and burned my left hand rather severely.

I put ice on it immediately, and minimized the blistering that way, and then poured anaesthetizing medicines all over it, but it still stings like hell.

Also I was so busy concentrating on the large burn across the middle of my palm that I completely failed to notice a smaller burn on the side of my index finger, and thus failed to ice it properly and developed a more full-fledged blister there. But it's my palm that really hurts most by far. You can see little wrinkles where the skin wanted to blister but due to my icing it no real blister quite developed. Anyway, it really needs to cease hurting so much, because the stinging is making me quite unhappy.

Probably too late for this burn, but; several months ago I reached into the oven and took a firm grip on the handle of a pan. It's one I usually use on the stovetop so I guess I wasn't thinking "this has been in a 350° oven for half an hour" but in any case I burned the palm of my left hand pretty badly. I snatched it away and held it under the cold tap for a few minutes but the stinging wasn't gone. But there was a bag of that frozen gel stuff--"blue Ice" I think it's called--in the freezer, so when I went to bed I took it with me, wrapped in a kitchen towel, and just went to sleep holding onto it. When I woke up after about four hours the gel was squishy *and the stinging was gone.*

Well, actually, the stinging went away in just about exactly four hours anyway, so I'm not sure that would have made any difference.
