Fuck Your $10 Bills

"Most of the prisoners detained at Abu Ghraib who are picked up in random military sweeps turn out to be innocent. They are released within three months and given $10 as spending money."

     from ABC News
This is the United States's official military policy???? Even if they weren't torturing and raping the prisoners there, HELLO, random false imprisonment for three months is not something you can just make up for by giving people a fucking ten dollar bill!!!!

AZ inmates have received $50 upon release since the 1970s. And the inmates have to earn the money themselves.

Yes . . . but at least in the U.S. there normally has to be a trial first, instead of people just being picked up in "random sweeps" and imprisoned for three months without ever even being charged with any crime.

Sorry, I hadn't meant to imply that the way the military is treating the Iraqi people isn't a big deal. I was just pointing out that given our treatment of prisoners in the US, I'm not surprised that similar issues (in more extreme forms) are problems in US's military/puppet Iraq.

Yes, and that's supposed to be enough to get you adjusted to free life again after however many years. Of course.
