Breast Feeding a Baby Is Child Molest!

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] cantstopthedawn, who found it here:
Take, for example, this case of a woman arrested for taking in film for processing that included a picture of her breast feeding a child:
Their most pressing problem was the breast-feeding picture, which the indictment characterized as sexual, "to wit; actual lewd exhibition of...a portion of the female breast below the top of the areola, and the said defendant did and then employ, authorize and induce Rodrigo Fernandez, a child younger than 18 years of age, to engage in said sexual conduct and sexual performance."
You read that right: she was arrested for child pornography and for compelling a child to engage in a sexual performance, and they tried to take her kids away from her. There is a truly warped, perverted, sexually decadent strain running through this country, and it ain't represented by women breast feeding their children.
Rodrigo Fernandez was one year old. I found more information here.

I wish I could be more articulate, but....

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

[identity profile] cukoo4cocopuffs.livejournal.com 2004-07-15 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That is so disgusting! The way it is worded, a mother would be horrified to be accused of such a thing.
That is fucked up.

This is why I can't oppose the death penalty. A conspiracy by people in authority to kidnap a child under false pretenses, clearly documented at every step, is the kind of case where it should be imposed, and as quickly as due process premits.

or even permits.

[identity profile] cantstopthedawn.livejournal.com 2004-07-15 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
TWO children. Because she took a picture of them in the bathtub, too. And the older one was scratching his crotch (because he had a rash, and she had his prescription rash cream to prove it) so OBVIOUSLY there's child molestation going on.

I oppose the use of the death penalty by the U.S. government because the U.S. government is very capable of building maximum security prisons from which it is almost unheard of for anyone to escape, and if it's possible to imprison someone reliably then choosing to kill them instead is unnecessary and a form of censoring them, and I oppose all censorship.

However, I do support the use of the death penalty in situations where it is not possible to reliably imprison someone instead: e.g., if a tiny revolutionary group miraculously overthrew the U.S. government, it would be highly unlikely that they could hold onto their power long enough to be able to ensure that they could reliably keep George W. Bush imprisoned for the rest of his life, so it would be unreasonable to expect them not to use capital punishment.

I oppose the use of the death penalty by the US government until such time as the US government can manage to consistently convict the guilty and not the innocent. If that's never, so be it.

What I'm saying, I guess, is that people who are willing to do things like that are people whose lives I do not value. And when I say it like that the UU in me gets all guilty and stuff, so I guess I just mean society should have a strong, unambiguous response to things like this so that they don't happen anymore. But being rational about it doesn't really relieve my emotional reactions to such acts.

Maybe if we had a really good killing-people simulator, and people like that could be publicly shamed by having their avatars added to the simulator library [in addition to being locked up and treated until they reform or die of old age], that would be the right compromise.

AAAGGH. This is the kind of story that makes my head explode. Especially when you consider that we only arrest less than 3% of actual child molesters in this country. This country politics and policies make me want to go crazy.

It's the patriarchy... And he's calling from inside the house! (http://www.catandgirl.com/view.cgi?)

Was there supposed to be something after the "view.cgi?" in that URL?

unbelievable. those poor parents!

in one of the articles, the point about how the only reason this has gone so far is because the family is poor is right on.

So, women's breasts are now meant only to be objects of sexual fetish and not to be used for their original intended purpose? What. the. fucking. hell.

[identity profile] queerbychoice.livejournal.com 2004-07-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
In other news, anyone attempting to use their mouth for eating or speaking purposes rather than exclusively for oral sex or posing in lipstick advertisements will now be imprisoned.

I'm livid.

My (white) cousin lived with a (white) abusive and neglectful methamphetamine addict and a (white) convicted child molester. It took over a year for my law-abiding cousin and her husband (my cousin's father) to gain custody of him, despite the fact that the child-molester's status was public record and that his two older siblings testified against their own mother on his behalf.

Many states have implemented policies that keep children with severely physical abusive families at all costs, even though many of these families have beaten their child so severely as to cause permanent disfigurement and/or life-threatening injuries to their children. They just get checked up on by social services a lot. I was shocked to learn this, but a researcher in Michigan apparently uses state records of such families to do his research on the emotional development of severely abused children. All of the children in his studies are still with their abusive caretakers.

And then they arrest a (Latina) woman for taking a picture of her engaging in, not only a pretty univerally accepted human practice, but in fact a pretty universal mammalian practice, with her son (who, incidentally, is not even too old to be breast-feeding, even though this particular child is weaned- many cultures breast-feed for 18 months or more), and somehow this causes all of her children to be taken away??????

If anyone thinks that this is in any way short of attempted cultural genocide, I'd like to hear it. It reminds me a bit too strongly of the Australian practice of forcibly taking Aborigine children away from their families.

what can we do?

sorry.. randomly found you by searching gay and lesbian and I read this and just had to say: this is why I hate the human race. That is dispicable. My english teacher had to worry because he wanted to take picturs of his baby on her 1st birthday, which they had the weekend after her birthday. He took some pictures of her taking a bath after the cake and everything because she was just covered in frosting from head to toe. When he took the pictures in, he had to sign a thing that said she was less than a year old and everything. Ridiculous!
