Birthday Loot

This is the entry where I get to show off my birthday loot and make people jealous. I received the DVD Mr. Rice's Secret (starring David Bowie), the CD Disco 3 by the Pet Shop Boys, and a CD of David Bowie remixes called Club Bowie. I also received the following books:

• First Indian on the Moon by Sherman Alexie
• The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
• Paradise of the Blind by Duong Thu Huong
• The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
• The Box Garden by Carol Shields
• Lincoln by Gore Vidal
• Empire by Gore Vidal
• The Trial of God by Elie Wiesel

And I see that Canada has given me the best birthday present of all, by legalizing same-sex marriage. Now, if only they'd given me an even better birthday present by invading the U.S. and taking over control of our government.

The Haandmaid's Tale is the only book by Margaret Atwood that's compelled me to complete it. :)
